Next#05 offers a view into the future of visual storytelling by showcasing the work of twelve promising photographers, whose talent and passion comes into focus in the World Press Photo Foundation’s annual Joop Swart Masterclass.
The Joop Swart Masterclass has been running since 1994 to foster the creative, intellectual, and professional growth of emerging international talent in visual journalism. It brings the photographers together with renowned editors and practitioners, to discuss technical, journalistic and ethical aspects of their work. This year’s participants were selected among 164 nominated photographers from 53 countries.
The World Press Photo Foundation promotes high-quality, reliable visual journalism that gives insights on the world. Since its establishment in 1955 as an independent, non-profit organization, it has organized the leading international contest in photojournalism, publishes books, and manages a worldwide tour of traveling exhibitions. The educational programs of the World Press Photo Foundation help nurture the talent and passion of the next generation of visual storytellers.
The World Press Photo Foundation receives support from the Dutch Postcode Lottery and is sponsored worldwide by Canon.
The Joop Swart Masterclass is supported by Ammodo Foundation and Viewbook.com. Our worldwide partner Canon also provides each participant with a grant.
